What is a fire safety inspection?
During a fire inspection Service Unit Fire prevention and geotechnics - Fire police/fire inspections, together with chimney sweeps, City Department Professional fire department and other specialist bodies, checks whether fire safety regulations are being complied with in buildings.
These include:
- Escape routes
- Emergency lighting
- Information signs
- Fire extinguishers
- Hydrants
- Heating systems
Where are fire inspections carried out?
As a general rule, high-rise buildings, underground car parks and commercial premises are inspected every five years. In addition, the City Department Building and fire police may carry out inspections in any building where there is a suspicion of a fire hazard or following a report.
