How many works of art does the city own?
The documented beginnings of the art collection of the city of Innsbruck date back to 1953. The collection has a total of 5,000 inventoried works. Since then, the city of Innsbruck has continuously purchased works of art.
Who decides on art acquisitions in the city?
A changing, external jury of experts decides on art acquisitions.
Where can art purchases be viewed?
You can view the current purchases at the end of each calendar year in an exhibition at the Plattform 6020 gallery.
How do I submit my art?
Submissions can be emailed continuously throughout the year to the Service Unit Visual arts and cultural projects .. . Pdf files over 5 MB please send via WeTransfer to the same address.
Two jury meetings are held annually in April and September.

Who can apply?
Submitters must;
- be born in Tyrol or
- have their center of life in Tyrol and
- be artistically related to Innsbruck.
If one or more works of art have been purchased from an artist, the City of Innsbruck may only purchase another work of art from the person in question after six years.
Which documents are required?
The following documents in German and in pdf format are required for submission:
- Short curriculum vitae of the applicant
- List of the offered works with representative images/photos and the respective key data (size, technique, year, edition, price incl. framing and tax)
- Brief description of the works offered or of the artist's artistic work
Who decides on the award?
The selection of the artworks is made by an external jury of two experts, whose members are visual artists and representatives of the fields of art education, art theory or exhibition. The jury members are appointed every three years.
