Where are road closures due to avalanche danger?

The Avalanche Commission of the City of Innsbruck assesses the avalanche situation on the Innsbruck Nordkette every day from the first snowfall. If necessary, the City Department General security and events will initiate road closures due to avalanche danger in the hiking area. During the winter season, the avalanche warning service of the province of Tyrol continuously determines the risk potential for avalanches and issues corresponding information and warnings. Where are the other roadblocks?

Umbrüggler Alm Trail & Link to Arzler Alm

Due to path renovation works on the Umbrüggler Alm Trail and the connecting path towards the Arzler Alm, these forest tracks are closed with immediate effect until further notice. The Umbrüggler Alm is accessible as normal for walkers from Hungerburg via the No. 3 downhill route , but for cyclists it is only accessible via the Planötzenhof.

The connection between the Umbrüggler Alm and the Arzler Alm via the forest track is therefore not available to cyclists. The Höttinger Alm can be reached via the Arzler Alm Trail.

Sill Gorge – Severinisteig

Due to the construction of the new “Sillbrücke” motorway bridge by ASFINAG, the Severinisteig between Gärberbach and Sonnenburgerhof is completely closed until further notice. It is not possible to pass through between Innsbruck and Gärberbach/Mutters. Please pay attention to the signage and information on site. The northern part of the Sill Gorge is accessible via the Sillschluchtweg. The Bergisel Panoramic Trail is also open. Further information can be found on the map below:

Sill Gorge: Construction work on the Brenner Base Tunnel

In the area around the northern entrance to the Sill Gorge (from Innsbruck/Wilten), construction work on the Brenner Base Tunnel is causing frequent, temporary closures affecting a wide area. Please follow the on-site signage in this regard.

The following routes are closed:

• from Bierstindl along the existing railway line
• from Bretterkeller via the access road into the Sill Gorge
• from the lower Sill bridge downstream towards Innsbruck
