More space for biking

With the first urban mountain bike trail park in Rossau, the city of Innsbruck set a strong example for nature-based sport in urban areas in 2024. At the same time, the project is helping to relieve the pressure on sensitive forest areas in the higher local recreation zones. The combination of a central location and challenging trail infrastructure attracts the bike community to the eastern Rossau every day. Due to its enormous popularity, the next step now follows: the expansion of the so-called Bichl Trails is entering its second phase.

Many possibilities

A wide range of beginner-friendly trails, jump elements and technical zones for training and club work are planned. Several practice trails and so-called skills areas with different levels of difficulty will be realised to specifically promote technical skills. The offer is complemented by jump zones with table tops for different ability levels as well as beginner-friendly pump tracks and jump lines. In addition, new connecting paths make it possible to walk around the central meadow area, which can now be realised following the reversion of the former driving range to the city of Innsbruck. This expansion increases the variability of the riding options and significantly enhances the quality of experience in the entire trail park. The primary aim is to relieve sensitive natural areas and woodland, reduce illegal riding in the forest and on trails and create legal opportunities for practising this sport.
