EARLY PREGNANCY LEAVE

Leave for expectant mothers as provided for in the Maternity Protection Act is a legal requirement in the interest of the life and health of mother and child.

In Austria, expectant mothers may not work in the last eight weeks before the expected date of delivery.

For the period before the 32nd week of pregnancy (= early pregnancy leave), a pregnancy leave certificate can be issued for reasons of health by the Office of Public Health.

Please bring the diagnosis of your gynaecologist with you and your Mother and Child Health Passport.
For an assessment of your working environment as a reason for early pregnancy leave, please contact the Innsbruck Health and Safety Executive.
