BRASS BAND OF THE INNSBRUCK MUSIC SCHOOL

Conductor: Andreas Lackner

The Brass Band of the Innsbruck Music School was founded in the autumn of 2009 to give all the school’s brass and percussion players an opportunity to come together to make music.

Great importance is attached to a good age mix in the band; the youngest members are seven and the oldest is 65! In January 2011, the Brass Band was divided into two groups. The first stop for all brass players, regardless of their age and ability level, is the “Blechkapelle” (brass band), which is conducted by Gerd Bachmann. This provides pupils with a platform where they can come together to play and help each other and learn in the process. The next stage is the CatchBasinBrassBand, which is conducted by Andreas Lackner. This group practises and plays more demanding concert pieces. This more difficult music is also a stimulus for the advanced members of the “Blechkapelle” to work to reach the next level.
